A learning organization linking hospitalists and Hospital Medicine groups at leading academic medical centers nationwide.

The Dilemma

Medical patients – adults hospitalized with illnesses such as pneumonia, sepsis, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – are the largest patient group in US hospitals. However, we lack the ability to rapidly discover and spread ways to improve these patients’ care.

The Solution

The Hospital Medicine Reengineering Network (HOMERuN) aims to do both these things by linking hospitalists – who now take care of more than ½ of these patients – and care teams at hospitals across the US  to help speed improvements.

Our Goal

To transform care of patients with acute illness through the discovery and implementation of innovations in health care.

HOMERUN participants represent a wide range of hospitals across many parts of the United States.
