The Hospital Medicine Reengineering Network (HOMERuN) was established in 2011 to advance the field of Hospital Medicine by facilitating and conducting collaborative, rigorous, inter-professional, multi-site, research studies which improve outcomes of patients with acute illnesses.

HOMERuN research focuses on developing, evaluating, and disseminating innovations in healthcare delivery that encompass the entirety of patients’ acute illness.

HOMERuN fulfills its mission by focusing on the following key goals:

  • To build evidence base in Hospital Medicine through conduct of studies that answer questions important for patient care, hospitalists’ practice, and/or policy.
  • Implement our research via collaborative, multi-site, interdisciplinary, rigorously-designed and conducted studies that emphasize translating evidence-based improvements into practice.
  • Promote research capacity in the field of Hospital Medicine through cultivating skills, resources, and expertise at the levels of investigator, organization and national healthcare system.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, to broadly disseminate results of Hospital Medicine research so as to effect change in clinical practice and healthcare policy.
